Are you interested in singing, acting or dancing? Are you hoping to perform professionally some day? Young Actors’ Theatre Camp can help you take your talent and craft it into the ability that you know is within you.
This is What We Do
Since the beginning of our program in 2001, we have provided thousands of high school students with workshops, training sessions and invaluable information about the inner workings of the showbiz world. Our programs have won may awards for helping students just like you to meet working actors, casting directors, producers and even agents who have been in your shoes and know how to turn their passion for performance into successful careers.
Camp YATC Spring Weekend 1-Day Workshops
Our 1-Day Workshops are a great way to be indoctrinated into the world of Camp YATC. They are also an opportunity for you to meet and get advice from professionals who work in the business. In the past we have had casting directors from such television and movie hits as Disney’s Frozen, “Glee,” “Big Time Rush” and “CSI.”
Come to one of our 1-Day workshops, held in downtown San Francisco, and you will receive real advice from these experts and many others about the right way to audition, handling yourself in the industry and the necessary props at casting calls, such as head shots and demo reels.
Dancing for Your Life with James Alsop
This year we will also be featuring our Dancing for Your Life workshop with the fabulous James Alsop, choreographer to music superstars like Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.
If you want to step up your performance, Alsop is one of the best choreographers in the business. Since his appearance on Bravo’s “Step It Up and Dance,” Alsop has performed with Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae and Jennifer Lopez. When Beyonce picked him to choreograph her “Run the World” music video in 2011, a star was born. Despite his ongoing work planning the steps for JLo, Beyonce and Ciara, Alsop makes time to teach high school students lessons about movement, empowerment and self-confidence.
If you are serious about acting and performing, you don’t want to miss our 1-Day workshops. In addition to working with James Alsop, you and other passionate performers will walk through monologue auditioning tips with John Ainsworth from “American Horror Story” and Jeanette Marker from Pixar Animation. You will also hear about selling your audition song from Shawn Ryan of the television show “Bones.” Spots will fill up fast, so take advantage of this chance to meet some of the best mentors in the business.
